Inspired by Alaska and Alaskans.
Hello! I’m MsAlyeska, and I am so excited to welcome you to my space. Crafting has been a large part of my life since I was very young. As an Alaskan Native, I proudly celebrate our nature through my art of crochet, knitting and sewing!
I was first taught many art forms by my late Grandma “Noot”. She was an amazing woman who believed in the life of subsistence and appreciation for our very backyard. I am inspired by her to always keep learning and giving back to our community by honoring our Alaskan heritage and meeting our families where they are.
I take pride in the art that I make, and ensure that the details are juuuuust right. Because of the nature of handmade art, please note that there are “humility stitches” or mistakes intentionally left in sometimes. This is a personal choice that reminds me that crafting is a process - and it is not mechanical.
Speaking of handmade.. I am strictly against all forms of Ai. While at the beginning of my business I utilized Ai, I have since made the firm decision to be against Ai. I do my best to only attend events where Ai is not utilized, and If I am “locked in” with recent changes I plan on notifying those who wish to connect with me.
I am also not outwardly political, but definitely believe in equality, human rights, fairness for all, and not discriminating against ANYONE. I believe that politics has a place within this art world, but I do accept all who have the potential to develop into humans who care for eachother. I aim to accept others for where they’re at, and celebrate development. Part of my stances include my own education. I graduated from APU with a B.A. in counseling psychology, and currently I am attending Walden University to pursue my master’s in clincial mental health counseling. I am always learning how I can show up as a human, for other humans.
With that out of the way - here is a little bit about my small business side of things! I sincerely hope to celebrate our nature, and have mainly been focusing on making handmade crochet plushies. These designs are Alaskan Animals, Alaskan Nature, and popular children’s characters. My stance is that I’ll meet families where they are at with popular characters - then introduce/remind them of the beauty of Alaska. At my core, I strive to be sure Alaskans are represented.
I also lead a community of crafty people on Twitch, a livestreaming website under the username MsAlyeska Crafts. Within that space you could easily find me being my true self: being distracted with genuine conversations and connecting with others while crafting. I often will be preparing for my next small business event, or even studying for graduate school.
By supporting my small business and joining my community, you become part of a mission to preserve culture. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me as I continually develop as an artist and person.
Please feel free to connect with me on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and through my email! I always look forward to collaboration and partnership for eachother.
